Accessibility
Last updated August 30, 2026
We want anyone who could do this job to be able to apply for it. If our website gets in the way of that, we would rather hear about it and fix it than have you give up quietly.
You never have to use the website to apply
Call (301) 500-0645, (301) 825-5364 or (301) 646-5232 and somebody will take your application over the phone, at whatever pace suits you. Se habla español. That option is always open and it is not a lesser way of applying.
What we aim for
We build towards the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 at level AA. We have not had this site independently audited, so we are not claiming it conforms — saying otherwise would be easy and dishonest. What we can tell you is what we deliberately do:
- Real text rather than pictures of text, so it can be zoomed, re-flowed and read aloud
- Headings, labels and landmarks marked up properly for screen readers
- Every form field has a visible label, not just placeholder text
- Buttons and links reachable and operable with a keyboard alone
- Layouts that work at phone sizes and when text is enlarged
- Colour never used as the only way of telling you something
- The whole site available in English and Spanish
Where we know we fall short
Being straight about it:
- Some longer forms — the full employee application in particular — are demanding to complete with a screen reader. It is a long form for anyone.
- Uploading a photo of a licence or a receipt assumes you can take or find that photo. Call us and we will take the document another way.
- Colour contrast has not been checked exhaustively on every element.
- The embedded map on our contact page comes from a third party and we do not control its accessibility. Every address and phone number on that page is also written out as text.
Tell us
If something on this site blocked you, call (301) 500-0645 or use the form on our contact page. If it was the sign-in itself that blocked you, our help page has an email address on it. Tell us what page you were on, what you were trying to do, and what happened — and if you use a screen reader or another assistive tool, which one, because it helps us reproduce it.
We will reply, and we will tell you either when it is fixed or how you can get the same thing done in the meantime.
